a whole new girl

for her birthday, kalei wanted to get her hair cut and her ears pierced. well, we compromised - she could get her hair cut now, and her ears pierced when she's eight. so, here's a picture of how long kalei's hair was a month ago....

...and here's our girl now! as you can tell, she loves her new cut and feels like a rock star. she had nine inches cut off, and we will be donating that hair to an organization that makes wigs for cancer patients. her hair is so cute - it makes me want to get my hair cut to match! good thing she's still young enough to think that would be fun instead of lame!

lol at kalei being young enough to think it would be fun instead of lame. don't you wish it would never change? it's too true though.

i love her hair cut - and her bangs fall so nicely to the side. sani's go straight down and it drives me crazy!

sani has also asked about the ear piercing thing but when i tell her it will hurt she chickens out. we'll see how long that lasts...

anyway, what a fun way to celebrate a birthday!

She looks great! and is just beaming with the new cut! I've been battling the ear piercing issue since birth (it's tradition here to pierce girls ears as soon as they are born - i didn't buy into that!) but now that ilima is obsessed with jewelry I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to hold out.

Kalei looks great with that cut!
Do it! Do it! Do it! Kea just her ears pierced for her birthday. She chose little pink "gem" flower earrings.

Wow! She looks so cute! We know another little girl who had about as much hair cut off as Kalei and she freaked out when it was done. I think it was too much for her. Great job, Kalei. I am impressed.
