Doing a Yahoo search on yourself
So with all of the extra time I have now before classes start and things get really crazy, I decided on a whim to do a Yahoo search on myself (I guess some people "Google" themselves, but I am partial to the Yahoo search so that's what I went with). In addition to the department webpage (which I had to lobby for a year to be added to) and all of the old research stuff that is out there, I was surprised to see that I was listed in the WKU Libraries blog. Although I am glad that our upcoming journal is being advertised, I guess you never really know what is floating out there on the internet about you ... kind of frightening when you think about it. -James-

okay, james, you have a different experience than most people because you have so many publications and stuff that's on the web. i yahoo'd myself and only one thing came up - the bun run. (i ran a 5k with a friend right before we left indiana.) :) -bess
i'm with bess. i never heard of googling yourself, but steve did it on me when we were first dating - that's how i heard about it and THAT is a little scary! anyway, the only thing on me was some WAAAY old high school stuff from track and volleyball and history day.
maybe i'll have to try the yahoo route.
ps. that's really cool about the stuff you have accomplished! :)
I never really heard about googling/yahooing yourself until I worked in Career Services. Apparently a lot of employers do that with new applicants. Sis. Nikora told me that as an applicant, if you have something that smears your name, you better be prepared to explain.
That's too funny Malia that Steve googled you! how romantic! haha!
i also laughed about steve googling you maia. guess there are better ways to check up on someone than just word of mouth these days. it is an interesting thing i've never thought of before.
